THE HEROES? PROJECT
Minister for Transport Noel Dempsey with Participants on the Perfect Vision and Meath Opportunities for Training HEROES? project, based in Trim.
This project explores images of the male hero role model that comes to us through the media, history and mythology. By exploring the structure of the hero story we can gain insight into expectations and assumptions about the male identity in society and the role he is expected to fulfill. As a result we have been able to question the values that imbue all spheres of male activity such as sport, work and domestic life. The answers to these questions are not always obvious and they expose some flaws in the idea of the mans role in todays world is.
BRONZE ON THE BOYNE, FIRST FIRE:
The Bronze on the Boyne Project got underway with the first fire being lit at Perfect Vision Studios. To celebrate the event we placed a video on U Tube showing bronze being poured. We will be giving public demonstrations of Bronze Casting in various sites around the Boyne to demonstrate this ancient method. Workshops will be available in mouldmaking and casting methods.
Sean O'Dwyer is in the video pouring here with James Hayes. Thanks to James for overseeing the development of our Casting Foundry. For more: Bronze On The Boyne and Bookings
